A monument to the Cherokee mission

The monument placed in 2016 in Baltigati, a fraction of Soprana (Biella), to commemorate the drop of the 26 December 1944 organised by the Cherokee mission.

The whole village, starved and battered by the cold winter weather, took part in the reception of the drop, which supplied the area with arms and ammunition and, more importantly, with much-needed clothes and food.

The amount of supplies delivered was so big, that they had to bury some of them, to retrive them later.
