The geography of the Cherokee mission (Part 3)

The last map concerning the Cherokee mission. This one shows the (likely) route taken by Major MacDonald during his escape from the Mantova pow camp to the Swiss frontier.

Along the way, the Major was helped by many Italian civilians, mostly farmers, despite the huge risk that helping an escaped pow brought onto them.

As you can see, the route is quite streamlined, but nevertheless it was not a walk in the park for sure!
